Catherine Jean Smailes, age, 99 of Coshocton, went to be with the Lord at 11:20 P.M., Thursday, October 24, 2024.
Born July 29, 1925, in Meridian, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Carrie Stafford. She attended one and a half years at Meridian Business College. She was a cashier in her Dad's store, when she met and married her husband, William (Ed) Smailes. Catherine, worked as an inspector at Shaw-Barton and later at the J.C. Penny store, working in the men's department. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, a member of the United Methodist Women and the Senior Adult Ministry. She belonged to the Grace Fellowship, where she served as Treasurer.
She and her husband were blessed with one daughter, Gloria Smailes.
She was preceded in death by a brother William Byrd Stafford, a sister Mrs. Helen Rawls of Gulfport, Mississippi and a sister Dorothy Gay of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
A Graveside service will be held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at South Lawn Cemetery with Judy Elliott officiating.
