Ethel Virginia Fawley Goss, 101, passed May 5, 2022 at Morrison Hospice House, Zanesville, Ohio
Ethel was born to Philip and Anna (Anderson) Fawley in Binghamton, NY, on January 13, 1921.
The Fawley family relocated to Auburn, NY to establish a printing business. Ethel suspended her education to care for her ailing father. This enabled her mother to run the family business.
The events of WW II led Ethel to enlist in the Women's Army Corps in 1943. This decision sent Ethel to Blackpool, England. While stationed in Blackpool, she was assigned to a printing facility under the charge of Sgt. Charles Goss of Coshocton, Ohio.
As WW II in Europe concluded, Ethel traveled to Auburn to tell her parents of wedding plans. By train, she traveled to Coshocton to meet her future in-laws. Charles returned to Coshocton after a brief tour in Germany.
Ethel and Charles were married in Coshocton on February 3, 1946. Charles passed in 1966.
Ethel worked in Coshocton's glove and calendar industries, but her seamstress abilities were the center of her passions. She became the manager of the fabric department at Buckeye Mart. She also made custom draperies and curtains for local clients.
Ethel was the co-owner of the Fabric Nook on Main St. in Coshocton for 11 years. She later worked as a daycare receptionist and independent caregiver.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, John Fawley, and her sister Eleanor Rodgers.
Ethel is survived by her sister Dorothea Haase, Williamsville, NY, sons; Richard (Julie) Lancaster,
