Joseph David Fortune, 70, of Coshocton, passed away on October 8, 2021 after a short illness at Grant Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
He was born July 23, 1951 and was the son of Joe and Mary (Whiteus) Fortune.
On January 8, 1972 he married the love of his life, Debra (Cutshall) Fortune.
Joseph was a 1969 graduate of Coshocton High School, retired from General Electric and a member of the Victory Baptist Church on Brown’s Lane.
His hobbies included spending time with family, going to watch his grandchildren in their sports and school events, and watching the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians and Ohio State. He also enjoyed doing different things for his church.
Joseph is survived by his wife, 2 sons, David Allen (Rachel) Fortune of Coshocton and Daniel Edward (Georginia) Fortune of Newark. He had 4 grandchildren, Katrina (Ryan) Redifer, Connor, Madison, and William Fortune, 3 great-grandchildren, Noah, Bailey, and Sophie Jo Redifer. Joseph also had a brother, Jeff Fortune of Coshocton, a sister, Carol (Lou) Gardina of Coshocton, along with several Nieces and Nephews.
Joseph is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Roxie Simpson.
The funeral will be held on October 15, 2021 at 11:00am at Free Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Johnson officiating. Burial to follow at Coshocton County Memory Gardens.
Calling hours will on October 14, 2021 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
