Tara S. Smith

Tara S. Smith, 62, of Newark passed away at 10:15 P.M., Monday, May 15, 2023 at her home surrounded by love and friendship.

Born November 27, 1960 in Newark, Tara was lovingly adopted upon her birth by the late William F. and Joyce A. (Schlegel) Smith.

Tara was a proud graduate of Lakewood High School and Central Ohio Technical College. She worked for many years at Park National Bank and Barrett Legal Group. Those with whom she worked will never forget her loyalty and team spirit and her incomparable dedication to doing things the right way. Tara enjoyed home improvement projects, gardening, feeding the birds and squirrels, and solving puzzles of all kinds.

Tara will be very sorely missed by Thomas H. Barrett of Newark and by her beloved cat Cali, both of whom will now have to somehow make their way in this world without the best friend they ever had.

In addition to her parents, Tara was preceded in death by her uncle, Kenneth P. Schlegel of Coshocton, and by Spazz, another beloved cat.

Private Graveside Services will be held at Fairfield Cemetery in West Lafayette.  An informal memorial get-together will be held at Tara's home at 130 South 36th Street, Newark, Ohio from 1:00-3:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 10, 2023.

Memoriums may be made to Shrivers Hospice, 601 Underwood Street, Zanesville, Ohio 43701. Free Funeral Home, Coshocton is assisting with arrangements.
